Morgan Stanley Institute

Signal that moves capital. The Morgan Stanley Institute delivers integrated insights on the defining questions for financial decision makers.

Introducing the Institute

Dan Simkowitz, Co-President of Morgan Stanley, and leaders from around Morgan Stanley's integrated firm, share thoughts on the new Morgan Stanley Institute.

Dan Simkowitz: This is the time for the Morgan Stanley Institute.

Jess Alsford: The Morgan Stanley Institute brings together the firm's sharpest voices across banking markets and wealth management to give clear, actionable perspectives on the most complex global debates.

Katy Huberty: The best data. The most interesting transactions.  Our goal isn't more noise. It's better signal.

Mandell Crawley: The institute exists to tackle the questions that don't have easy answers. And give every type of client the clarity to act.

Jess Alsford: Geopolitics. Tech diffusion. Societal changes like longevity, housing and wealth transfer.

Dan Simkowitz: For example, AI isn’t just a technology story or a capital story or a disruption story. AI will transform the global economy and our lives. It’s critical to understand its promise while also navigating risk.

Seth Carpenter: This is an investment cycle that's so big that it is driving GDP growth higher in the United States and potentially transforming the global economy. As the productivity gains come along, we're going to see even more contribution to GDP growth for years to come.

Niall O’Rourke: This cycle differs in both scale and speed. We estimate the total spend is north of $3 trillion. And the winners in AI will be those with the most strategic access to capital.

Andrew Wettenhall: Can we continue to innovate to provide capital highly efficiently to issuers? And are we able to separate out hype from those who can truly execute?

Thomas Kamei: Which companies will get massive probability gains from adopting AI and automation long before the consensus gets there.

Lisa Shalett: Every segment of the market want to be here, from family offices to 401 K plan participants, they want to be here in almost every asset class.

Melissa James:  Boards need to assess whether management teams are moving too aggressively or too cautiously on AI, and help guide them on how to strike the right balance.

Seth Carpenter: What are debates that are driving markets now.  Who do investors really want to know about?

Michael Zezas: What artificial intelligence can already do is very impressive, but we think we're in the early stages of a major industrial build out that's going to create a lot of challenges and opportunities.  And that's what the Morgan Stanley Institute is set to deliver, with a regular cadence of clear concise commentary on topics across the global investment landscape.

Dan Simkowitz: The Morgan Stanley Institute exists to cut through complexity, challenge conventional wisdom, and to equip Morgan Stanley’s clients to navigate the world’s most consequential debates.  The Morgan Stanley Institute. Signal that moves capital.
