24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, The Relationship Group at Morgan Stanley focuses on celebrating, helping and engaging with the diverse LGBT+ community in the Palm Springs community.
For David Schrager, Janet R. Malachowsky, Kerry Hendrix, and Thomas Caffery*, making sure that they have a diverse, vibrant and inclusive role, not only in the community, but also in how they go about doing business, is key.
With a diverse team and an emphasis on inclusivity, they are able to “bring different perspectives to every single client relationship. There’s value in looking at things from different points of view,” explains Janet.
From Hollywood elites to a large retirement community, the Palm Springs population is “a melting pot of individuals from around the country,” says Kerry. People don't realize that Palm Springs is among the nation’s top ten cities with the most same-sex couples (Williams Institute, 2017). It's very special because in that regard, it's quite diverse,” Janet agrees. Two of the members of The Relationship Group are members of the LGBT+ community and recognize the importance of representation in the firm.
From participating in the Palm Springs Pride Parade to running the Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast, this team makes sure that they match Morgan Stanley’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and being a leader in the LGBT+ business community. It’s about doing the right thing for the right reason.
Living in the Coachella Valley for a long time, Thomas has seen the tremendous growth and activism in the region, especially among Morgan Stanley. “As a company. I think we're at the forefront. We're trying to drive this issue and show how important it is, and more importantly, as a human race, if you will, the idea of inclusivity for everyone, regardless of one's outlook, is extremely important and I'm proud to be part of that.”
