Cyberattacks and fraud attempts are a continuously growing challenge in financial services. Our tech innovators in Baltimore use data science, AI and machine learning to identify and prevent malicious activity that is focused on financial institutions and their clients.

In fact, innovators here have received more than 20 patents for forging new and unique ways to take on the complex big-data challenges in the cyber space–creating solutions capable of handling challenges beyond the industry.

Morgan Stanley has a long-standing relationship with the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore. We are an original sponsor of the oyster project, and since 2017 employees have volunteered as oyster farmers. Volunteers help raise baby oysters in the Inner Harbor from September to June, when the oysters are moved to sanctuary areas in the Patapsco River. These shellfish naturally filter water and decrease pollution.  

We also work with the partnership to support their conservation gardening initiative to protect pollinators. Our Baltimore office has adopted two Inner Harbor wildlife gardens. 

At the HBCU Trek each year, students and faculty from Bowie State University, Morgan State University and Delaware State University have an opportunity to learn what we do directly from our people and get to experience a “day in the life” at Morgan Stanley Baltimore.

Firmwide initiatives such as the Morgan Stanley HBCU Scholars program and student mentorship are key examples of our commitment to supporting emerging talent and building a workforce that reflects the communities where we live and work.
